After completing his Bachelor in Arts degree in Economics at the Ateneo de Manila University, Carlo Edmund Calimon entered the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in 2003 for his MBA degree where he majored in Marketing and graduated on the Dean’s List. Soon thereafter, he joined the Let’s Go Foundation as their Executive Director and Trainor. Carlo Calimon is also an entrepreneur. He belonged to the Carnival Group which organized bazaars in his area. He is currently a part of MindFunk Inc., organizers of the WhyNot Forums. He continues to look for opportunities while focusing on helping develop more entrepreneurs in the Philippines. Carlo Calimon is an advocate of Entrepreneurship. He believes that Entrepreneurship is the key to improving the lives of the Filipino people. This can be done by educating and training the people in Entrepreneurship. He began his advocacy by helping the Asian Institute of Management with EntrepAsia, a pioneering program which allows entrepreneurship students and entrepreneurs to view Asia as their marketplace. This allowed the participants to create linkages in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. He played an integral role in the pioneer program by being part of the organizing committee and by gathering support from the private sector through sponsorships. Furthermore, he represented the students during the various forums and seminars held in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand which allowed him to meet and interact with key personalities and officials in these countries. Lastly, he conducted preliminary preparations and ocular visits for the Singapore and Malaysia leg of EntrepAsia. He met with various government officials, local entrepreneurs and Filipinos to lay the groundwork for the program. Carlo Calimon joined the Let’s Go Foundation (Leading Entrepreneurs Towards Seizing Global Opportunities), a non-profit, non-stock organization advocating entrepreneurship in the country as a consultant and trainor. He currently prepares and develops Entrepreneurship training materials as well as promotes and manages the various programs of the foundation. He also conducts training activities for high school students. He taught Entrepreneurship to more than 150 underprivileged kids and trainors during the Share An Opportunity (SAO) sponsored Batang Entrepinoy Camp held in Pangasinan and Bacolod. He also participated and helped in the training of high school teachers in the International Labor Organization (ILO) sponsored Know About Business training seminar. Today, he is working closely with the Department of Education and the International Labour Organization in institutionalizing and implementing entrepreneurship education in the high school level. He recently participated in the preparation and revision of the Technical Livelihood Education Curriculum of the Department of Education. Furthermore, he is also a trainer for the DTI-JICA Shindan project whose main objective is to train and enhance the skills of SME Counselors based in different parts of the Philippines. In addition, he is also a Professor in Assumption College where he teaches Entrepreneurship to Third and Fourth Year college students. He is also assisting Assumption College in their development of their Entrepreneurship curriculum for their college business majors. He is also a Mentor to students at the One School. |
